Centre de Santé Communautaire Hamilton Niagara
The Centre de Santé Communautaire Hamilton Niagara is a French language-based organisation that offers French language services in Healthcare, Dental Care, Mental Healthcare, newcomer/immigration services, and child-based programming. They often work with community partners, including schools, in order to support francophone populations in all aspects. Hamilton Public Health Services offers a range services and supports to address the growing and changing needs of our community. Nurses, doctors, counsellors, and other trained health professionals work with community partners to promote and protect your health, prevent infectious diseases, and inspect for health hazards.

Notre Dame House is a 24-hour emergency shelter for youth between 16 and 21 years of age. The program uses a team approach with community collaboration to help youth reach their personal goals using a strength-based and client-centred approach.

Our Environmental Experiential Learning Programs provide meaningful, authentic, and immersive environmental learning opportunities to Hamilton youth. Program elements include curriculum-tied projects to augment environmental learning in schools, certifications and experiential learning opportunities for high school students in the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program, co-op and volunteer positions for high school students to deepen their environmental and professional learning, an after-school nature exploration program for children, and a stewardship and professional skills program for high school students to develop collaborative student-led projects. In the fall of 2022, we will host our first Youth-Led Climate Conference, led by a Steering Committee of Hamilton high school students with mentorship from Green Venture staff and University-level interns.

The Children’s Aid Society (CAS) of Hamilton was established in 1894 as a not-for-profit organization focused on ensuring the well-being and protection of children. The Society is funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and mandated under Ontario’s Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA) to protect children under 18 years of age from physical, sexual, and emotional abuse and harm.
The Society is committed to ensuring that a child, youth and family’s culture, race, Indigeneity, religion, ethnicity, language, sexual orientation, gender identity and ability are integrated in our services and practices. Trained child welfare staff are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year to respond to concerns about the safety and well-being of children and youth.

The John Howard Society of Hamilton, Burlington & Area is a Not-for-Profit organization and a registered Charity in good standing with the Government of Canada. Our agency was established in Hamilton in 1949 by a group of caring citizens and community leaders who formed our first Board of Directors. Today the John Howard Society of Hamilton, Burlington & Area is one of 19 affiliates in Ontario and over 50 across Canada.

Living Rock Ministries, Youth Resource Centre exists to be a safe place of community and support for youth-at-risk. Living Rock has provided programs that engage, encourage and equip youth towards their personal development goals for 36 years in Hamilton. Last year, Living Rock offers essential supports to one of Hamilton’s most vulnerable populations: youth between the ages of 13-25, who are affected by significant risk factors such as loss of family, poverty, substance dependance and mental health. These youth need support to navigate the social systems to find ways to meet their basic needs of food, education and shelter. The programs and services offered by Living Rock Ministries provide a continuum of care for youth and their children, while offering opportunities for personal development, life-skills and employment training. We continue to offer programs 7 days a week.

For eight decades, Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG) has connected people to the plant world. We do this not only to awaken people to plants’ beauty, diversity and necessity, but also to serve as a beacon for an increasingly urgent movement to preserve plant species and habitats and, by extension, our planet.
Part of the Niagara Escarpment UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, RBG plays a vital role in this region, protecting and preserving 2,700 acres of environmentally sensitive areas (including 2,400 acres of nature sanctuaries, 300 acres cultivated gardens and an arboretum), to improve the ecosystem from Lake Ontario to the Niagara Escarpment; ensuring a balanced relationship between people and nature, and, connecting natural spaces where wildlife can thrive.

St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton’s Youth Wellness Centre is a unique service that provides mental health care by appointment including counselling, support, and navigation services for young people aged 17 to 25. This service is covered by OHIP and confidential.
Unlike other specialized services, their centre accepts self- and family/friend referrals in order to decrease barriers and make their services more accessible. Medical professionals and service providers can also refer their clients.
They offer Early Intervention, Transition Support, and a Mobile Team.

On September 2019, ACS officially launched its Youth Empowerment Program, a youth-led, agency-supported program that aims to help young people connect, learn, and be engaged in their community. At the heart of The Net program is an advisory group referred to as 'The Net Youth Team'. This group of talented youth is a collection of students 13 - 18 from different schools in the Ancaster area. The Net Youth Team meets weekly on Zoom to plan and develop special events and volunteer opportunities for all youth in Ancaster.
